Q: Julie (LA) Good afternoon BE and thanks for taking my question. Lakers have been treating me nicely all year long, but I think Orland will take the next game in Orlando. They won't go down without a fight. What is your thought on Sunday's game please? Take care
R: briane Good afternoon ladies and gents! I'm still stunned at how the Magic somehow let Game 4 get away. Howard missing the two free throws was bad, but Hedo Turkoglu missing three of four at crunch time was completely perplexing and crushing to Orlando's cause. We've got plenty to discuss, so let's get on it.

Julie: I know you're pleased with the Lakers winning two of the last three games in overtime. In Game 5, it'll be interesting to see what happens early. If the Magic fall behind, you wonder how they'll respond. If Orlando grabs the early lead, will L.A. mail it in and look to clinch at home back at Staples Center? I've got the side in my pick pack already and will probably add the total in the next 24 hours. I tell you one prop that I really like and that's Dwight Howard's rebounds to go 'over.' The number was 15 1/2 in Game 3 and 15 in Game 4. I think it'll be either 15 1/2 or 16 for Game 5 and again, I like it 'over.' My pick pack will also contain other suggestions for props. I'll add those when they're released (thinking tomorrow afternoon if not later today). Good luck Julie!

Q: Bob Red Wings to win and cover tonight?
R: briane I'm the furthest thing from a hockey expert. I grew up in Florida and was never really into the sport. With that said, I've certainly followed the Stanley Cup finals and actually made a rare hockey investment on the Red Wings on the puck line in Games 2 and 4. Very nice 'plus' payouts were delivered, so I'm all about Detroit in this spot. I like the Wings on the puck line for a return in the plus-165 range (risk $100 to win $165). I'd stay away from the expensive straight price (-220 at most spots).

Q: Anthony (NY) I like the Detroit Tigers in this game with R.Porcello on the hill...the Pirates have the worst record in inter-league play and the Tigers are playing well. Thoughts?
R: briane I just watched Pittsburgh win back-to-back games at Atlanta after the Braves had won three in a row. Therefore, I'm not interested in laying a 'chalk' price on the road. I've been on a nice run in bases, cashing tickets at a 33-25-1 clip (57%, +1232) since May 1. That's led "dime players" to $12,320 of profit. My pick pack tonight has two plays in it so far, including this pay-if-it-wins-only selection if anyone wants to check it out.

Q: Gasan BE, seriously, should I get greedy backing Colorado on run-line tonight? Thanks bro!
R: briane Yeah, I think so. I'm so annoyed I didn't get on the Rockies yesterday as nice plus-160 'dogs in their win (with brooms in hand) at Milwaukee.

Q: Shaq I repeat: Kobe won't get anymore rings without my help even though they are 3-1 now. I am predicting the Magic will play their best 3 games of this series and win in LA in game #7. What do you think of my plan? I guess on Sunday, this game will go OVER the total as well. Take it easy now.
R: briane Shaq Daddy: I've been saying for years that Kobe will never win a title "on his own." Well, that prediction is certainly in serious jeopardy now. Orlando should win and cover in Sunday's Game 5 at home. But the exact same thing can be said about last night. And winning back-to-back games at Staples will be a tall task. But let me be clear on this: it could happen. It's unlikely and it's a tall task, but it's far from an invincible mountain. If Kobe doesn't get several phantom calls in the fourth quarter of Game 2, the Magic win that game. If Orlando makes any of its free throws in the fourth quarter of Game 4, it wins that game. In other words, we could easily be looking at Orlando up 3-1 in this series. However, that's the deficit Stan Van Gundy and Co. face. And spreaking of Van Gundy, why didn't he have Rafer Alston in the game in the fourth quarter? His sub patterns with Jameer Nelson and Alston have been ridiculous. Nelson didn't play terribly, but he's not "feeling" his jumper at all right now and has no business playing 26 minutes in Game 4, including the entire final stanza.

Q: Eric Chiu What's up Brian? The NBA Finals is the coming down to an end. Do you think it is gonna lights out on Sunday? My lean is to the Over but then again, What do I know?
R: briane I'm still mulling the total. The 'under' is now 3-1 in the series, cashing in a pair of games even though they went to overtime. Even with the Magic setting NBA Finals shooting records, Game 3 only went 'over' by 14 points.

Q: Bob Morse Magic plays well but they just don't know how to finish the games in which they hold the leads. Gonna be tough for them to win 3 in a row but I guess I should take it one step at a time. Orlando to win and cover on Sunday. Thanks for some opinion.
R: briane Bob: We saw the Lakers close out Denver on the road, but they couldn't do the same at Houston in Game 6. We'll see if L.A. comes out Sunday with a greedy mentality. I thought the Lakers had that in Game 3, yet they lost (but covered for those who bet 'em at +4.5).

Q: Tom (Texas) Brian, just got my Phil Steele magazine. Can you believe he has Notre Dame ranked seveth? Rutgers at 16 seemed high? I think Kansas is a sleeper in the Big 12 -- what do you think of Jayahawks?
R: briane Tom: I also got my Phil Steele magazine this week. First of all, let me say that once again Steele has put out the best magazine on the planet. It's GREAT as always and a must-have for bettors. With that said, I was floored to see the Irish as high as No. 7. Now they do have a very soft schedule so an improvement in wins should happen. Still, I don't see Notre Dame being better than 8-4. That's the Irish's ceiling in my opinion. In fact, don't be surprised if Colin Kaepernick and Luke Lippincott lead Nevada to a season-opening win in South Bend.

As for Rutgers, No. 16 does seem high but it's not as eye-opening as Notre Dame's presence in the top 10, at least not to me.

I think Kansas probably goes 7-5 but 8-4 wouldn't surprise me. 9-3 is probably the Jayhawks' ceiling. Love QB Todd Reesing. KU returns seven starters on both offense and defense.

Q: Charles (B-ham) B-what's up? Why can't Orlando make a free throw? Are the Magic done?
R: briane Not done. Tall task but not impossible mountain to climb. Very unlikely the Magic win three straight, but they could definitely make things interesting like the Pacers did in Larry Bird's third and final season as coach. Remember, Indiana won Game 5 over the Lakers when trailing 3-1. The Pacers then went to Staples and led for most of Game 6 before dropping a heartbreaker.

Q: Terry (L..A) Game 7 tonight. Wings or Pens? Any props you like?
R: briane No props -- like Red Wings on puck line (-1.5 goals) for plus-165 payout.

Q: Teddy Hi Brian, let's talk NBA please. Is Phil Jackson the best coach ever? Who do you think will win the MVP trophy this year?
R: briane Hard to say who best coach ever is out of Red Auerbach and Phil Jackson. Both were blessed with great players. Less teams back in Red's day. MVP of Finals? Looking like Kobe from here right now...

Good luck with all your bets this weekend! Enjoyed it, as always.
