Vegasinsider.com handicappers give you the inside line on the weekends action and their top picks for the week.

Q: tom i like Angels tonight. thoughts please?
R: josh Angels' starter Joe Saunders is 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA at home this season. But righties are hitting almost .270 off of him on the season. He'll be up against the Dodgers and Chad Billingsley who's been great on the road in his last four starts, going 3-1 with a 1.94 ERA. I'm siding with the Dodgers in this one despite their 5-12 record in the last 17 head-to-head meetings. The Dodgers have been hot on the road at 11-4 in the last 15 and this will continue as we head into the weekend.

Q: John (Atlanta) Hi Josh, please help with my play tonight. I really like Rockies on the run-line in this game vs Pittsburgh. I think Colorado continues to roll as the Pirates tend to struggle mightily in interleague play road games. Take care
R: josh I'll agree with you one this play. Like the Rockies and their 6.1 runs scored through what's been a magnificent 13-1 stampede in the last 14 games. Mix in the fact that this is another shot at catapulting themselves inside the hitter friendly, Coors Field and I would be hard pressed to think of another outcome. Factor in the Rockies run margin of +12 in the last 10 and the run line is quite enticing. Plus I'll take Jason Marquis over Ross Ohlendorf anytime.

Q: Don Coleman What's up Josh? Let's talk baseball. Mets have been hot lately but can they keep it up tonight against Tampa Bay Rays?
R: josh I don't know how you can call the Mets hot. This is a club that's suffered from internal strife and poor play all season long. Sure, they're two games over .500 but a 5-10 record in the last 15 isn't even close to acceptable. But I'll take New York in this spot. Tampa will have Andy Sonnanstine on the hill and despite a solid performance against Washington in his last start, we're talking about a slinger whose 1-6 on the road with an 8.55 ERA. Gotta go with the home club here.

Q: Kevin What's your take on Chicago-A (ML+100) tonight please? I think Contreras will get it done again. Take care buddy!
R: josh The Reds' Bronson Arroyo has been good in situations where he's coming off a loss (3-0 with a no decision off a defeat). That and the fact that the Reds are 14-4 in Arroyo's last 18 home starts and the evening looks good in the Reds favor. Contreras has had two outstanding starts in the last two appearances but a 1-3 record with a 6.95 ERA on the road only bolsters my Cinci play.

Q: Famster Hello, thanks for taking my question. I like the 'over' in Atlanta-Boston game tonight. The OVER is 4-0 in Braves starter Kenshin Kawakami L4 overall starts and I think we will see another high scoring game. Take care!
R: josh Thanks for the welcome into the chat. The Braves are 6-3 on the 'under' in their last nine and the Sox are 4-2-1 on the 'under' in their last seven. But that just too easy or shallow of stats to just base tonight's play on. How about Kenshin Kawakami's three losses in four road starts, a 5.81 ERA away from home and a 3-2 'over' record just isn't convincing enough. Then we have the 'under' at 3-0 in Dice-K's three home starts this season. I'm siding with the 'under' backed up with Dice-K's 5-2 total 'under' record this season and Boston's offensive slowdown after clobbering Philly and Florida for 6.2 runs per game in the last six. It's time for the 'under' to come home in this one.

Q: Joe, Dallas josh When the betting trends are skwed to the over at Sportsbook, should we fade. What system do you use to handicap totals in baseball. I need a hot tip.
R: josh I like to implement a mix of strategies when capping totals. While I'm more of a sides guy, my homework almost always consists of the sharpest trends working in favor that day, pitcher matchups (which are most valuable) and just an assortment of factors from ballparks to performances during specific months. To know the future we must revert back to the past and we can use that knowledge in many walks of life. As I said before, I'm on the 'under' in the Boston-Braves game tonight.

Q: Tim, Miami hi Josh Please don't tell me your a chalk eater like the rest of the cappers on your ste. Let me guess you like the Yankess toight Give me your best bet!
R: josh The Yanks are coming off a disasterous series with Washington and I'd be lying if I was to tell you I'm that confident in New York now traveling down to Miami after what was left back in the Bronx, a mess. I wouldn't take tonight's game anyway as Pettitte has been a different pitcher on the road (3-1, 2.59 ERA on road vs. 3-2, 5.77 at home). Yankees will get the win but I'm personally stearing clear. Although I do like what Florida's Sean West has done (2-1, 3.00) despite his lack of experience in the Majors. Also factor in New York's lack of pop in the bat all of a sudden.

Q: Mike (NY) Got more baseball for you. I like Detroit at home -108. What do you think?
R: josh Going against you on this one Mike. Galarraga has been pitiful this season and going 0-7 in his last seven is just the start of those problems. Now while the Brewers' Brandon Looper is no shutdown slinger, I'll put my money up that this is the outing he'll need to down the Tigers. With the Milwaukee looking to build on the 4-2 run in its last six and the Tigers' 2-6 record in their last eight home games, the trends are just one factor pointing to a home upset here. I could be wrong but then again it would be the first or last time that I have.

Q: Eric (St. Paul) Have you seen any value in any NFL Reg Season 2009/2010 future bets? If Brett Favre were to sign with the Vikes can you see them becoming a NFC contender?
R: josh Ah, a change of pace from the dominant baseball questions. I like season win totals despite the wait to cash in. If you have the patience and time take a look at Kansas City going 'over' 6 wins (this will be an improved club, maybe not the Dolphins type of improvement but one none-the-less. I'm also drinking the Atlanta Falcons' cool-aid right about now and will risk some bucks on the 'over' eight wins there as well. Will Farve or more like can Farve change the face of the Vikes? Contenders yes, especially given the Adrian Peterson driven offense but can they make a deep stand in the playoffs? No, not unless Minnesota makes a true stand in the WR position. Just not sold on Sideny Rice, Bobby Wade as a go-to-guy Week to week and the rest of the group (Bernard Berrian up-and-down but a legitimate threat).
