Monday Night Football Chat at 5:30pm EST
Q: William (Atlanta) The pre-season games aren't the best representation of a team.. but they aren't too far either. How likely is it that a team will have a regular season similar to their preseason? For example, the Colts were just barely denied entrance in the playoffs in 2008 but dropped to 1-3 in preseason. Should we expect more out of teams like this or count them out ? R: chrisd Hi William We would like to welcome you and everybody else to the first MNF chat, which we'll be doing every week through the football season. As far as preseason goes, I wouldn't put a lot of stock into the outcomes. Remember, Detroit went 4-0 last year in the preseason and then 0-16. What I would look at is how the coaching and new players blend. Right now, I have no faith in the Chiefs or Bucs, both with new coaches and they just canned their o-coordinators. Q: Jerry(San Diego) Hi Cris. A few straight up games in NFL. I think Eagles can win straight up. Baltimore looks impressive in pre-season, so against KC, I believe they can win. I like the Pitts team in general for their good D, but not so sure about winning straight up against Tenn, your thoughts on this game please. As for getting the points, Jets looks good w/ 4.5 pts. and Bears(with good D) away w/ 3.5 pts. Thanks for your time Cris. GL everyone!!! R: chrisd I've been writing the Super Trend for the past few years on VI and it's a must-read for all gamblers in Week 1. Check it out and you might find two clear-cut winners! FULL STORY Q: Eric Hi CD, thanks for being here today. I like Tennesseee getting the points thursday against the champions. How do you see this game? R: chrisd Hi Eric This is a revenge game for Pitt, after getting beat by Tennessee last year on the road. The Titans are a legit team but a lot of their success was based of Big Albert in the middle on defense. I'm going to wait and see how good that unit is before riding them again. I don't believe they go 13-3 again, that's for sure. Check out the SB Winner trend above. Q: Alex Hi Chris, Hope you are on Cincy earlier today? I feel like Miami +6 is a steal. How can you not like the underdog in this spot? The whole world is betting on FSU at home laying less than a TD. Thanks, Alex R: chrisd Hi Alex I took the over and was happy to see Rutgers' defense not show up. Not sure if Cincy is that good or the Knights that bad. Time will tell.... I'll touch on the Miami-FSU game in a minute... Q: Terry (L.A) I like the Jets, Cinncy and Vikes to cover (Denver and Cleveland are a mess). Agree? If Crabtree sits out where will he be drafted next year and by who? R: chrisd Jets have a tough battle in Houston, who is getting a lot of hype. I did like what I saw out of Sanchez, he's going to be solid. I think the 'over' in the Jets-Texans is a good look just because Sanchez is capable and the Jets' defense will be without Pace and Ellis up front. Texans can score and their defense was lit up in the preseason, and I'm talking about the first unit too. I do agree that Denver and Cleveland are down...I can't believe the Browns haven't named a starter yet at QB. I like Mangini but if you don't win, his act will get real old in Ohio. Q: Larry (Idaho) Yo Chris, happy holiday. Please give us your thoughts on Miami +6 tonight. My handicapper is recommending the over in this game. How do you see this game please? R: chrisd Hi Larry Who is your handicapper? And did he give you a reason why to take the over? Shoot me an email at cdavid@vegasinsider.com! We'll try to help you out... Q: kevin (Los Angeles) Hi, Chris, Do you think we will see an offensive game in Miami x Florida St. with Miami winning outright and the total going over 47 points? Thanks R: chrisd Hi Kevin The trends on this game point to the underdog and the under, especially when its played opening week. These games haven't been exciting at all on Labor Day, with nobody scoring more than 17...so with that being said, most would expect a low-scoring affair tonight. Take away the trends and the last two have gone over, including last year's in Miami and in the rain too. I took Miami on the ML myself and will probably pass on the total, since too many people are aware of the under trend and riding it too. Q: Jimmy Newport Beach Cris, Looking to double up and catch up. I was on the wrong side of this Rutgers mess. Im on the chalk again tonight and leaning on the over to get some back. your thoughts? Thanks R: chrisd I'd look at Miami ML... Q: Don Coleman (TN) Hey Chris, how do you like to parlay FSU and the 'Under' tonight? R: chrisd Based on the past trends, a defensive battle is very likely but if you don't get pressure on either QB, they are capable to move the chains. Q: Bob Hi Chris, everyone seems to bet the Under Miami-Florida St game. I got in at Under 49, should I stay put? I hate betting with the public but Miami-FSU seems to like to grin it out in a defensive battle everytime they meet. Thanks R: chrisd You got a great line, since its down to 47.5 at most places. I think it will be close to the number. Final Score... Miami 24 Florida State 17 |
