Q: tom denver hi Kevin, what do you think about rutg-10 army? I like rutg, but all the under dog have came up big at the end. i like Fla over mis st,boise over hawaii, last tcu over byu, what do you think on these game kevin. thanks R: krogers Good to be here on this Friday afternoon. Hey Tom. Rutgers is coming off the tough loss to Pitt last week, and have lost to two quality opponents, along with Cincy. On Army's side, the Black Knights can definitely run the ball well, but don't have impressive wins on their resume. Army lost to an awful Tulane team at home, while sneaking by a mediocre Vandy team. I don't have a solid opinion on this game, but it can never hurt taking the points with a military school. Out of the three games, I like Mississippi State the best. The Gators have UGA next week, and I don't know how UF comes out this week in Starkville. Good luck. Q: Luis Kevin, thanks for being here with us. I like BYU +2.5 @ home and I like Oklahoma on the road against Kansas. Will I go 2-0? Take care. R: krogers Hey Luis. The only game in which I saw BYU this season from start-to-finish was the loss to FSU. Granted, TCU's offense is not nearly as strong as FSU's, the Horned Frogs are known for their superb defense, which can slow down Max Hall and the Cougars. I'm not sold on BYU, as they did escape against Oklahoma in the opener. With that being said, the Sooners have lost all three games this season by a combined five points. KU's defense is not good, and they got tore up by Iowa State and Colorado the last two weeks, which isn't saying much. I like TCU and Oklahoma. Q: Jason (Little Rock) Kevin, thanks for being here! Would like your thoughts on Notre Dame-B.C. under 55.5 and also SMU getting 16.5 at Houston. Liking both those plays. Thanks a lot. Good luck this weekend! R: krogers Hey Jason. BC has been great at home, but hasn't looked good on the road this season. In the Eagles' two losses away from Chestnut Hill, BC's offense was non-existent at Clemson and VT. Notre Dame can score, but their defense isn't spectacular. However, you need at least 24 from BC, which could be tough, so I agree on the 'under' there. Houston is a bit vulnerable here, because the pressure is on them after losing their first conference game to UTEP. SMU has competed well, including a road win at UAB. The Blazers aren't in the same class as the Cougars, but SMU can stay within this number. Q: Carl (San Diego) Who do you like best among Bears, Falcons or Raiders to cover catching points? (Or none of those?) Thanks! R: krogers Hey Carl. I actually like two of those three underdogs to win outright. They would be Chicago and Oakland. Cincinnati is a bit of a fraud, and were definitely exposed last week against Houston. The Bengals will be without their top DE Antwan Odom, who tore his Achilles' tendon. The Bears have given away two games this season at Green Bay and last week at Atlanta. As far as Oakland goes, yes the Raiders don't have much offense, but neither do the Jets. New York shouldn't be laying points on the road to anybody, especially with Sanchez's struggles and Kris Jenkins tearing his ACL last week. Q: Brad (Birmingham) Do you think Fla. will cover against my dawgs? They are banged up on the D-line and may be w/o Spikes which would help Dixon have a big day and eat clock. I doubt Meyer and Tebow will run it up on their buddy Mullen. Add the fact that Fla. is o-fer in Starkville the last like 15 years. U agree? Or should i take off my maroon colored glasses? R: krogers Hey Brad. This game sort of mirrors the Kentucky game a couple of weeks ago after UF escaped past Tennessee. Granted, Starkville is a tougher venue than Lexington, but the Gators came out of the gate strong and covered the big number over UK. The Bulldogs have played a tough schedule, and their best chance at a win with all their losses was the defeat to LSU. Mullen will have the Dawgs ready for this game, and probably cover. Q: Chuck Hi Kevin, Baylor got murdered last week early and often, do you think they'll bounce back at home catching 10 tomorrow? Also, Notre Dame seems like a great play name the scores. Thoughts? R: krogers Hey Chuck. The Baylor/Oklahoma State game is an odd line. The Cowboys are a little dinged up, and Dez Bryant is still out, but with Robert Griffin out, how is Baylor going to score here? OSU's defense forced four turnovers in last week's win over Mizzou, and held down Georgia in the opener. The lone team to really light up Okie State was Houston, who owns one of the best offenses in the country. I'd feel comfortable laying the points with the Pokes. As far as Notre Dame goes, they are 1-4 ATS as favorites, with the only cover coming in the opener against Nevada. There may be too much expectations on the Irish to bounce back after the loss to USC last week. I'll take the points with BC. Q: Brien I have Falcons+4, Rams+14 and San Diego -5 as my 3 best bets this week. what do you think? R: krogers Hey Brien. I'm not a big fan of the Chargers in this spot. San Diego has underachieved this whole season, they are not playing with confidence, and blew a golden opportunity in the division with the loss to Denver. There's still a long way to go, but San Diego is getting back to the place they were for the first three months of last season. The Chiefs, meanwhile, are playing better, and received a nice confidence boost with the win at Washington last week. The Bolts have struggled at Arrowhead in the past, and I'd take the points here. Atlanta is a tough call this week, even though I don't think much of Dallas. The Cowboys are coming off the bye, but have not been impressive at all. I'm not sold on this game, but would take the Falcons. The Rams game is also a tough one, since St. Louis cannot score, and Marc Bulger can't throw the ball down the field. Indy can win this game 24-7. Q: John (Atlanta) Yo Kevin, how is it going buddy? Big letdown spot for the New Orleans Saints and St. Louis. I like Arizona+7 against Giants and Miami +6.5... what's your take please? R: krogers Hey John. The Saints aren't in an easy position this week, coming off the huge home win over the Giants. Now, New Orleans has to travel to an interconference site, where it will be hot, even for a 4:15 kick in Miami. The Dolphins are playing better, while leading the league in rushing. Chad Henne will be a terrific quarterback for the Dolphins, and had a nice showing against the Jets last Monday. The Giants, meanwhile, are expected to rebound against a Cardinals team going cross-country after their win at Seattle. Anquan Boldin is questionable for the Cards, but I think the Giants run away with this game. Q: Jeff (Vegas) Trying to get on NE -15 before it goes to 18. the Pats just hung 59 in the snow.. and I am pretty confident they can cover against a Tampa team that is just as bad as the titans this year... Any idea who will cover this game please? Total seems low considering what NE did last week against Titans. R: krogers Hey Jeff. This is the third time that an NFL regular season game will be played in London, as both games have been decided by less than five points. This is almost like a vacation for the Patriots, knowing they can "blow out" the hapless Bucs. I'm not so sure the Pats will cover this number, because despite Tampa Bay's struggles, they have played quality competition this season. Q: Greg (San Diego) Stanford's running game will get them back on the right track this week. ASU has no offense and tried to blow it last week. What do you think? R: krogers Hey Greg. I like what Jim Harbaugh has done with this Stanford program in his tenure with the Cardinal. However, Stanford's massive run game faces one of the country's best rushing defenses in ASU. The Sun Devils are coming off a sweep of the Washington schools the last two weeks, beating the Huskies and Cougars, but Stanford does return home after two straight road losses. I'll lay the points here with Stanford to beat ASU. Q: T (L.A) 2 questions for ya: Packers or Indy a better bet? Is it too risky to be betting on the UConn game? R: krogers Hey T. I'd say the Colts may be the better bet, even though you are laying more points. The difference between Indy and St. Louis as opposed to Green Bay and Cleveland is so much bigger, and I don't trust the Pack laying that many points on the road. The UConn game is a tough handicap following the death of Jasper Howard. It's tough to equate where the Huskies' heads are going into West Virginia. I'd probably stay away from that game. Q: Wayne(Mobile) Does Auburn have a chance against LSU and the spread, also what do you think of the over in this game. Thanks R: krogers Hey Wayne. Auburn has crashed back to Earth after a pair of losses to Arkansas and Kentucky. The loss to UK still bewilders me, but now the Tigers are in a dog role at LSU. Les Miles' team has struggled offensively all season, but have had two weeks to prepare for this game after the loss to Florida. I think Auburn has an excellent chance to cover in this game. The 'under' has hit in seven of the last nine meetings, and Auburn will try to control the ground game, so 'under' is also the way to go. Q: Eric Chiu Hey Kevin, my plan for this weekend is to lay the points with Pittsburgh -5.5, then put all my money on Arizona +7 Sunday night. I feel Arizona is the team to beat this year and they will play well against the defending champs Sunday. Would you play Arizona on ML as well? Best of luck with your plays. R: krogers Hey Eric. I agree on the Steelers play, as I think they blow out the Vikings on Sunday. I'm not sold on the Cardinals Sunday night going cross-country, but I'd be curious to see how the Giants respond from the loss at New Orleans. Q: dominic baltimore what do you think about the dolphins and bills this weekend looks of live dogs! R: krogers Hey Dominic. I like the Dolphins in this spot, as the Saints are in a major letdown position. The Bills, not so much, as Buffalo forced six Jets turnovers last week, and still almost lost in overtime. I'd lay the points with the Panthers. I want to thank everybody for contributed to the chat today. I have one big guaranteed winner in the NFL this Sunday, between the Niners and Texans. Click here to purchase that winner, and if it loses, you pay nothing. Best of luck to everyone with all your wagers this weekend. You can e-mail me at anytime at rogers@vegasinsider.com. |
