Q: T (L.A) Does Vince Young starting for the Titans make any difference? It seems the wrong team is favored here. At least the Jags are trying, it seems the Titans have given up. R: judd Good afternoon everyone. Let's talk some sports and maybe stumble upon some winners as we go along. Vince Young doesn't give the Titans any sort of an edge. Matter of fact, I'd make the Jags the faves here. Young hasn't talked like a leader and his teammates can't stand him. Kevin Rogers brought up a great trend about Jeff Fisher. The Titans coach "is 1-17 ATS as a home favorite of three points or more against an opponent who is coming off a SU win of less than ten points." I'd play that. Q: all do you have stats on nfl teams that cover line because of public moveing line from from opening line? R: judd I don't have that information off the top of my head, but that is something I will definitely look into for next week. Be sure to check in. Q: RTH Peyton and crew are a lock for a straight up win, and likely to cover vs. SF this weekend, right? Also Arizona, Saints should cover 10? R: judd Howdy there, RTH. I never thought I'd see favorites like this in the NFL again. And I really didn't expect them to cover at such a great clip. I look at all three teams you mentioned and see the Colts as your best bet to cover. That offense is running extremely effective at the moment. I'd say that the Cards are the next best bet of the three. Carolina is just falling apart at the seams and. New Orleans has a great offense and the defense worked it out eventually against the Dolphins. But the home team in the Falcons-Saints hasn't covered a double-digit spread hasn't covered since 2005. Q: Jason (Little Rock) Judd, what are your thoughts on Texas A&M and Iowa St. sailing over the 61? Also, does the sandwich spot for Penn St. give Northwestern a shot at covering the 14.5? Thanks a lot! Best of luck on the weekend. R: judd Hey Jason, I'm a little apprehensive of taking any total like that with the Cyclones and Aggies. We just saw Iowa State win a 9-7 game in Lincoln. And I'm not all that keen on Texas A&M, who haven't beaten anyone that I would take seriously. If you're taking the 'over,' then you're probably going to be sweating this one out until the fourth quarter. Northwestern got its act together last weekend in what had to be a look ahead spot for them. Now the Nittany Lions are in that same position. All I have to say is this: Penn State is 8-4 SU in the game before playing Ohio State, but 4-8 ATS. And 1-4 ATS in the last five spots. That is just too many points to lay on the road. Q: Bob Judd, I have Chicago Bears -13 as my biggest wager this week . Thoughts please? R: judd Bob Bob Bob... It sucks for me since I'm a fan of the Browns, but I'd be backing Chicago here as well. Cleveland has shown that they can't get past any opposing offensive line. That means Cutler will get a lot of time to make the right choice. Then you have the issue of Derek Anderson, who still is the starting quarterback for reasons unknown. This game will be ugly for the Brownies and fun for bettors on Chicago. Q: Jeff (vegas) What's up Judd? Thanks for your time here. Books need West Virginia to cash tonight but the line has moved down from West Virginia -3.5 to -3.... Any idea why? R: judd Hey Jeff. Moves like that just means a lot of cash came in on the Bulls. There are no reports of major injuries to WVU that would justify that line. USF has covered the last three meetings, but this isn't the same team we've seen in Tampa. I take this as the typical Bulls' club that is in a fun after their first loss of the year. My advice is to fade until they actually cover. Should yield a profit. Q: Anthony (Ny) Hey Judd, big NBA card tonight. Dallas looks to rebound but it's Lake Show tonight. I like the home team laying 7 points. Do you have a play on this game? R: judd Hi Anthony, There are certain times to play on or against teams. And we're in the spot to play the Mavs. Dallas is a group of slow starters, but were a good road play last year. They were 7-3 ATS in the first 10 road tests. Q: Don Coleman Good afternoon Mr.Hall, thanks for being here with us this afternoon. I like the Cougs to come up with another big win vs Golden Eagles. Also like to back CMU to win outright @ BC, Florida Gators -16 over Georgia. Will I cash at least 2 out of 3 plays? R: judd Hey Don. I'm in the same boat with you on Houston. The Cougars are clicking and Southern Miss is ripe for the killing. As far as your other two plays, I'd lean slightly towards the Gators. They'not covered in a few weeks and I could easily see God's favorite son, Tim Tebow, leading them to a three touchdown win. Q: Luis Must-win for Ravens this sunday. Will they cover? Chargers had a big win last week against a mediocre team. Will they have a letdown game vs Oakland this wk? SD -16 seems high to me. R: judd I think the line on the Ravens is small enough to believe that they can cover here. I'd be more on the 'under' for this game though since 41.5 is just too high for my tastes. Especially for a game with a team that has given three-points in the second half of their last five games like Denver. Don't be surprised if get another blowout win with the Chargers. San Diego has covered the last two home games they've had with the Raiders. And Oakland's offense is just a wreck. Q: The ‘under’ has cashed in four consecutive head-to-head meetings between USF and WVU. Will that stread end tonight? I like the Over but I also like USF in this spot catching a FG. Thoughts? R: judd I agree with you on the 'over' for this one. South Florida's defense hasn't impressed me the last two weeks. I fully expect Noel Devine to have his way tonight. Q: Louis (Philadelphia) South Florida has rankings just as good as W. Virginia and is at home. How do you explain W. Virginia being a big favorite? R: judd I don't think I'd call 3.5 a big road favorite in college football. Some lines get affected by what's happened recently. USF has played badly, while the Mountaineers showed a lot more in beating the Huskies. If anything, you'd have to ask why this line isn't bigger. Q: Louis (Philadelphia) How good is Colorado Avalanche this year? How about the San Jose Sharks? How tough is it for them to get motivated for regular season games after last year when they had such a great year then lost again in the first round? Any thoughts on tonight's Colorado-San Jose game? R: judd It does my heart good to see a hockey question. I believe the Avs are a well coached team, but aren't the most talented. They're winning right now because they are just hitting teams at the perfect time. Think about the fact that they won in Boston against a club that is not the same group we saw last year. The Wings have looked old so far. Toronto is garbage and Montreal was in a funk when they played. Tonight is the best chance these team will have to show that it is indeed for real. San Jose looks like they just needed a bit more time to get started this season. The Sharks have won three straight and five of their last six. This is not a bad puck line bet with SJ at plus-150. Q: Teddyman1972@yahoo.com Do you trust McCoy to cover 8pt on the road against Oregon St? Also, is FSU a fraud laying points on the road? FSU has been favored four times this year, going winless both SU and ATS in those four contests. R: judd If I hadn't seen McCoy play as well as he did last week at Mizzou, then I'd take Oklahoma State. It's going to be tough for the 'Horns to pull it off given how well OSU has done on defense recently. But I see Texas winning this one by 10. I know I'd be a little shy of playing the 'Noles, but they've got a real shot of taking down NC State in this spot. This is a group that gave up 49 points to Duke and 52 to Boston College. No reason to believe that FSU won't cover for the first time this season. Q: Tom (Cleveland) Judd, will the Browns win any more games this year? Is Mandummy the answer? Shouldn't we bring Marty back out of retirement? R: judd I was thinking the same thing earlier this week, but we should see what happens with next year's draft. But I'm not against bringing Marty-ball back to Cleveland. We might be able to cover then. Q: Sjam (New Milford) Judd, Westbrook is a game time decision. How would you lean in the Eagles/Giants game? R: judd Westbrook is important to the Eagles. However, I think Philly is going to be able to burn the Giants through the air. New York has been torched in the last two weeks. And while I don't think the Eagles are in the same passing class of New Orleans and Arizona, they have enough to feast on New York's secondary. Q: Grant-Balt Hi Judd, just curious, what side were you on, and how many games in the WS? Thanks R: judd Hey Grant, I took the Phillies in five games. I figured that Philadelphia would get better pitching overall and experience for the team as a whole would be an advantage. So far, so good on that prediction. And on that note, I bid you farewell for the night. Have a great and profitable weekend! |
